Five teenagers, three females and two males, are posing for a group photo in front of a white and blue banner with "Sebring High School" written on it. The students are dressed in semi-formal attire, with leafy green plants on either side of them.
Sebring High School celebrated AVID Day, Sept. 12th, joining schools NATIONWIDE in recognizing the power of education, the dedication of teachers and the resilience of our students. Through our partnership with AVID, we've seen incredible results - from increased graduation rates to more students enrolling in honors, AP/IB and DE courses. AVID equips students with the skills they need to succeed in school AND BEYOND, including critical thinking, collaboration and leadership. Today, our AVID students reflected on their skills, opportunities and confidence they have gained by completing the phrase, "Because of AVID, I...." We are proud of our 175+ AVID scholars at SHS to honor 45 years of impact across the nation. Thank you to our incredible educators who transform student lives every day!

If you were not able to join us, have no fear, we will have another night in January! If you just can't wait until then, take a look at the resources below and contact us with any questions.

Monday's special guest speaker, George McKenzie, Jr, was THE most INSIGHTFUL & INTERESTING presentation we've ever had‼️ His journey by Amtrak train from Brooklyn to Highlands County was fascinating. A Live Wildly Adventurist & Nat Geo Explorer, he didn't have a traditional, easy path to his current career. We are better people after his intriguing presentation. Thank you Mr. McKenzie for investing your time in our students.
